El Gato’s is located at the top of the high street in bohemian, quaint and quirky Stroud in the Cotswolds; described by Jasper Conran as the ‘Covent Garden of the Cotswolds’, and made even more famous by Laurie Lee’s novel, Cider with Rosie.
The Stroud five valleys were named after the wealth processed from wool, and is an area of outstanding beauty and stunning scenery.
The Stroud ‘Golden Valley’ or ‘Five Golden Valleys’ is on the famous ‘Cotswold Way’, and is popular with walkers and tourists.
There’s an award winning farmers market on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and the Stroud Subscription Rooms, that host brilliant arts and cultural events.
Other local attractions include Woodchester Mansion, the Museum in the Park, Painswick Rococo Gardens, Slimbridge Wildlife Reserve, Cotswold Wild Life Park and there’s the nearby Roman town of Cirencester and the city of Gloucester with it’s famous docks, cathedral and wealth of history.

OUR APPROACH
We are cat lovers and this is our extended cat family. The cat café has been set up with the best interests of our feline friends.
We are home to a clowder of cats, that are brothers and sisters and indoor cats, and we have designed and planned the café and our routines so that it is a safe and happy environment for them.
As we are animal lovers who try to uphold animal rights and want to play our part for the environment, we will only offer vegetarian and vegan food options. We have also decided that we will not be fostering cats at the café, as we feel it’s not in the best interests of resident cats, or cats waiting to be homed.
However, we will be organising fundraisers for cat rescue centres and working with them to let our guests know about cats that need good homes.
